Since the railroad industries received federal grant money, there has been a lot of buzz about Bullet Trains. While reading about Bullet Trains, I have found several advantages that out-weigh most of the disadvantages.

One major disadvantage is the billions of dollars that would have to be spent for the new railway infrastructure. With all the constructions and preparations for something like that, would it actually create new jobs? Unfortunately, the United States aren't building rail cars, but couldn't we start doing so? Both China and France manufacture the rail cars to support their respected rail system. Can you imagine the amount of people that would have manufacturing jobs, inspection jobs and maintenance jobs? The possibilities are endless. Paint and coating manufacturers would see increase in business, from the many train stations and other related building projects. Manufacturing companies could be using Elcometer inspection equipment to have valid and trusted quality products leave their factories.
I would rather jump on a train and be in Chicago in 4 hours than sit in my car on highways that are littered with potholes and traffic. If you think about it, how much money is currently being put into maintaining the highways by both the state and the federal government?

Even though it sounds like Michigan is getting passed over for the Bullet Train, it is a great idea for the future of the nation.
Thank you,
