Michigan, Thank You For Representing Us At The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

The last event at this Winter Olympics was certainly the pinnacle for all hockey fans alike. Congratulations to our friends in Canada, for a terrific game. At the same time, we are very proud of our Team USA hockey squad. Many of whom hails from our home state of Michigan. In fact, there are more than a handful of athletes with Michigan ties that we'd like to send our gratitude for representing us so well on the world stage.

  • Bobsled: Michelle Rzepka (Novi, Michigan State University)
  • Ice Dancing: Evan Bates and Emily Samuelson (Ann Arbor, Novi, University of Michigan); Meryl Davis and Charlie White (West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills, University of Michigan)
  • Luge: Mark Grimmette (Muskegon)
  • Men's Hockey: Tim Gleason (Clawson); Jack Johnson (Ann Arbor); Ryan Kesler (Livonia); Brian Rafalski (Dearborn); Tim Thomas (Flint); Ryan Miller (East Lansing, Michigan State University)
  • Snowboard: Nick Baumgartner (Iron River)
  • Speed Skating: Ryan Bedford (Midland); Jilleanne Rookard (Woodhaven)
  • Women's Hockey: Angela Ruggiero (Harper Woods)

Alongside these hometown athletes, we are also glad to have many of the Detroit Red Wings representing their countries with pride:

  • Pavel Datsyuk (Russia)
  • Valtteri Filppula (Finland)
  • Tomas Holmstrom (Sweden)
  • Niklas Kronwall (Sweden)
  • Nicklas Lidstrom (Sweden)
  • Henrik Zetterberg (Sweden)

As mentioned in a previous blog entry, Steve Yzerman and Mike Babcock are also a part of the Detroit Red Wings family who contributed immensely to the success of the Canadian Men's Hockey team.

Among the notable highlights was none other than Team USA goalie, Ryan Miller, who was awarded the Olympic Men's Hockey Tournament MVP. Very well deserved indeed. Aside from his stellar performance in front of the net, Ryan Miller's hockey mask has also garnered a lot of attention. We are very happy to share the little factoid that it is also a product of Michigan, artwork designed by Ray Bishop of Grand Blanc and made entirely in Port Huron by Warwick Mask & Equipment Inc.

Hmmm ..... by the way, would the new Elcometer 6015 DOI Haze Meter come in handy in this case?

Thank you so very much for your patriotism, and we look forward to see all of you wear the red, white and blue again, at Sochi, Russia, in 2014.
