Special Edition on Surface Profile Testing.
The measuring of a blasted substrate surface profile prior to painting is vital to proper adhesion and the overall success of the coating and its ability to survive the elements.
The Elcometer 122 replica tape provides a simple way to obtain an impression of a blasted surface. The replica tape is designed to measure and record the peak-to-valley height of the profile. The Elcometer 122 offers 50 test per roll, available in a range of tape grades, and meets ASTM D 4417-C, ISO 8503-5, NACE RP0287, US Navy SNI 009-32, and US Navy PPI 63101-00.

Tape Grades
E122-B Course 0.8-2.0 Mils (20-50 um)
E122-C X-Course 1.5-4.5 Mils (38-114 um)
E122-F X-Course Plus 4.5-5.0 Mils (115-152 um)
Start by removing the protective paper from the adhesive side of tape and place firmly on the surface. Apply moderate pressure with the provided burnishing tool over the circular cut-out in the tape. Remove the tape from surface. The replica tape is now ready for measurement using the quick and easy Elcometer 124 thickness gauge.

The Elcometer 124 thickness gauge (also known as a "Snap Gauge") is used to determine the average maximum peak-to-valley profile of a replicated blasted surface.
